Center Stage…Music in Motion is a music scholarship program designed to help High School Seniors peruse their dreams with music in Central Texas. The idea came from the Dawson High School Band Director, Brandon Hixson and the Dawson Technology Director, Kenny Carter. “We wanted to create a project that we knew people would be proud of, thus offering an incentive for students to continue to be active in music” states Band Director Brandon Hixson. “There doesn’t seem to be a push for students to stay active in music after they graduate from High School here in this community. The idea took off immediately! The request was able to obtain tracks from Switchfoot, Point of Grace, Mark Schultz, Wayne Watson, Amy Grant, Michael W. Smith, Mitch McVicker, Rhonda Gunn, Sean Smith, Terry Blackwood of the Imperials, Splendorleaf from Dawson, Brad Reynolds, The Southern Joy Quartet from Corsicana, New Life and Bobby Perry from Corsicana, Eva Wilson, Five Times August, Drew Davidsen and Matt Nightingale. Kenny Carter and Brandon Hixson also contributed original compositions. The compilation got so many positive responses that they had to cut a few artists to go on the 2009 edition. The 2008 edition features 18 original tracks…
